Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this program for?
If you’ve experienced a concussion or head injury, it’s important to seek immediate medical attention. Start with your primary care provider (PCP), a local urgent care clinic, or the emergency department for an initial evaluation. While most concussions resolve naturally within a few days to weeks, persistent symptoms lasting beyond two weeks may require specialized care. If you’re facing challenges returning to sports, work, or school, consider scheduling a free consultation with Dr. Fair. We’ll help determine if our program is the right fit to support your recovery.
What can I expect during the program?
The first month of our program you will participate in a clinical interview and a neuropsychological assessment. This evaluation will include a range of tools to understand your injury, symptoms, your cognition, previous treatment, your mood, personality, etc. This will give Dr. Fair a clear understanding of what’s going on and how to pair your strengths and abilities with effective strategies to get you better. This evaluation process will occur during the first month and again at the end of treatment. You will also begin applying the various online classes to help you learn more about your concussion and how to heal. This will include weekly personalized consultations and follow-ups.
As needed, during the 2nd and 3rd month you’ll continue to engage with online content, and participate in weekly consultation sessions where we discuss your specific recovery process. When sufficient time and change has occurred, typically towards the end of treatment, you’ll participate in a follow-up evaluation. We’ll compare your scores and note areas of progress and opportunities for continued growth.
Do you accept payments using a HSA or FSA?
Yes. Upon request we can provide you with a documentation that you can use to confirm that qualified medical services were provided.
What if I need to cancel a session? Do I get a refund on that session?
Research indicates that the more consistently we engage in targeted therapies, the more effective the results. We will work with you to schedule another time so you can continue diligently working on your recovery. The beauty of online therapy is you have much more schedule flexibility than traditional, in person visits. We don’t offer refunds (see below).
Why do you charge the whole month at once?
Our focus is on reduction in the number of symptoms and symptom severity. This happens in a variety of ways and not just during weekly sessions. For example, sometimes sessions and check-ins are more frequent during the first half of the month. By making payments upfront and predictable we can all focus on your recovery rather than billing issues. Also, when you invest in your health up front, you’re more committed to taking action and making change consistently over time.
Do you offer any discounts?
Our program consists of a diverse panel of specialists and experts in the field of neuropsychology, physiology, mental health, and other disciplines. This targeted expertise, delivered remotely and conveniently to help you heal, is a high value service with strong outcomes. The best way to find out about potential discounts is through our subscriber newsletter and our social media channels.
Do you take insurance?
Our program focuses on helping you get better. In many cases the insurance industry complicates healthcare by reimbursing only certain kinds of interactions, only for certain conditions, and only for certain durations of time. There are also a lot of documentation and compliance requirements which increase the time an office spends on paperwork. These restrictions mean less time available for client care, with costs passed on to clients. We don’t work with insurance companies but can provide you with a bill of services and CPT codes that you can submit to your insurance carrier for potential reimbursement.
What kind of therapy approach do you use?
Our treatment approach is integrative in nature, helping you improve brain, body, and behavior. We focus on principles from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The style or emphasis can vary based on the needs of each client.
What if I'm not better after your program?
We are confident that you will experience significant and measurable improvement in both the number of your symptoms, and the severity of your symptoms. Our goal is to guide you through as much progress as possible in one to three months. Recovery is very individual and it’s possible that after three months you will still want to continue treatment. Ongoing paid support is available at monthly intervals as determined by your clinician.
Do I need to live in a certain location to be a client?
Dr. Fair is a licensed psychologist in Utah, with an application pending to practice in any of 42 PSYPACT States (https://psypact.gov/mpage/psypactmap). Stay tuned for that upcoming change!
